The Literatureweek in Vestfold was established in 1997, and since then has been the leading literary festival on the west side of the Oslo fjord. Vestfold County Council owns and operates the festival since 2009, and has in the years since its beginning established the festival as one of the major literary festivals in Norway. The main focus of the festival is to bring literature and writers to all of the municipalities in Vestfold in week 45.

The Literatureweek in Vestfold aims to be a literary festival that keeps a low threshold and high quality.
